Music Competition

     Helping With Arts hosts online music competitions where musicians of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to apply.

     Prizes:

     1st Place -  $50, Certificate, HWA Cap, Magnets and Stickers

     2nd Place - $5, Certificate, HWA Cap, Magnets and Stickers

     3rd Place - Certificate, HWA Cap, Magnets, and Stickers

     With permission, all winners and honorable mentions will be showcased on our website and promoted on our social media. These rewards are the same for the performance and composition competitions. An applicant may apply for both competitions. There are no refunds for submission fees.

     Performance Competition

     The performance competition will be limited to children 14 years and younger only. 

     The submission fee for a performance is $20 USD.

     Have the following information for your submission:

  • A video of the performance where the performers can be easily identified as the ones playing the song.

  • Name of the song along with the composer/artist of the song, if applicable.

  • Short biographies of the performer(s). This will be showcased if the performer(s) win. 

  • etc.

 

     The deadline for submissions has been changed to February 4, 2025.

     Composition Competition

     The composition competition allows any instruments, including vocal, electronic, and traditional. The composition must be under 8 minutes. Multiple compositions may be submitted. All compositions must be originally composed by a single composer, but they do not have to be copyrighted or registered.

     The submission fee is $20 for the first composition and $11 for every additional submission. 

     Have the following materials for your submission:

  • Score sheet of composition, if applicable.

  • MP3 or other audio recording of composition. The recording does not have to be from live instruments. 

  • Short biography of the composer. This will be showcased if the composer wins.

  • etc.

     Adjudicators

     Here are the adjudicators for the Summer 2024 Helping With Arts Music Competition. 

​

  • Payam Khastkhodaei

    • A headmaster of the magical and musical school that's 1st place in Washington for Student Acceleration. ​

  • Lin Liu

    • A composer and aspiring pianist who has been playing the piano for nine years and composing for six. Also one of the founders of Helping With Arts.

  • Yikai Zhen

    • A legendary producer and arranger currently pursuing his dreams of music, with no boundaries for skills ranging from classical to EDM genres. He is talented and adaptive. 

  • Chan Tang

    • A versatile musician​ in a band who plays piano, drums, guitar, and many other instruments. He is also familiar with music production and composition. 

  • Li Shaosheng

    • A Chinese composer who mainly concentrates on symphonic, chamber, and Traditional Chinese Orchestral work. Graduated from Juilliard and also has a master's and doctor's degree. ​

  • Anthony Tam

    • A renowned judge who has judged many music competitions and other musical events around the world. He has also worked in many masterclasses in South East Asia. ​
